Eastern Meets Western Medicine

Acupressure

Acupressure is an alternative medicine technique that uses the same acupuncture points or trigger points.

Based on the Yin and Yang life energy concept it is believed that the energy flows through meridians in the body. Pressure is applied to the acupuncture point with the aim of clearing the blockages in these meridians. The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory for the selection of such points and their effectiveness is that they work by stimulating the meridian system to bring about relief by rebalancing yin, yang, and qi (also spelled “chi”).

Reflexology

Reflexology is an alternative medicine technique that involves the application of pressure on specific points on the feet and hands.

The theory behind reflexology is that areas of the foot correspond to organs and systems of the body. Pressure applied to the foot is believed to bring relaxation and healing to the corresponding area of the body by stimulating the energy and releasing’ blockages’ in specific areas that cause pain or illness.
